End of the Year Letter
O come, O come, Though Lord of might, Who to Thy tribes, on Sinai’s height, In ancient times did’st give the Law, In cloud, and majesty and awe. Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel shall come to thee, O Israel.
Dear Friend:
A blessed Christmas to you and your families! Thank you for your prayers and financial support this past year.
While we enjoy our holiday traditions here, our friends at Project Chacocente will celebrate by attending church and enjoying time with their families. Many will light candles throughout Advent and sing carols each evening as they too celebrate the birth of Emmanuel, God with us.
At Chacocente Christian School on December 2nd, there were celebrations of another kind. Parents, teachers and four board members proudly watched ten marvelous young women and men receive their high school diplomas. We wish each of you could have been there. Their families have made great sacrifices so that they could go to school, and teachers and staff have worked hard to show them the immense value of an education. Just imagine if we had to choose which of our children would attend school and which would stay home to work in the fields!
Later this month, four members of the Chacocente community, each born into the Managua city dump, will receive degrees in advanced education. Madeline has earned a teaching certificate from Teacher School in Masaya. With it, she will be able to earn a secure living, to feed and educate her beautiful daughter, Sofia, and to set an example for young girls who see her accomplishments. Nelson, Jairo and Jonathan will graduate from the advanced English course at the University of Central America in Managua. From the days they collected garbage to sell, until this day, their hands now extended to receive their degrees, God has been with them – Emmanuel! It would not have happened without your help, and with your continued help, many more of our students will earn their high school diplomas and even continue their education beyond high school.
Together, let us continue to realize the dream set in motion by founder Cheryl Avery. A very devoted Chacocente supporter and disciple of Christ has generously donated $10,000 to be used for matching funds. This means that every dollar you donate will be matched. Your $100 donation becomes $200, your $500 donation becomes $1,000. All donations will do twice the good for the people of Project Chacocente. We can raise $20,000 by year’s end. Please help us to reach this goal!
Your donation by check may be sent to the address at the top of the page or through our website at www.outofthedump.org. All donations are tax-deductible. Feel free to email us at [email protected] with questions.
God Bless You,
The Project Chacocente Board of Directors
